LINE ART is any image that consists of distinct straight and
curved lines placed against a (usually plain) background,
without gradations in shade (darkness) or hue (colour) to
represent two-dimensional or three-dimensional objects. Clip
art and pen and ink drawings are typical examples of LINE
ART - 2 colours (usually black and white)
Sometimes it is appropriate to use a line drawing (line art  see below),
and sometimes it is more appropriate to use a photo/realistic image
