Graphic Design
Towards the Precipice
When: 20 April – 20 May 2007
Where: Pictorial Gallery,
Auckland
Museum
An exhibition of posters that capture
the tumultuous energy of countries on
the verge of war.
Posters were used as
propaganda tools
in WWII as they were
inexpensive, easy to produce and
reached a wide spectrum of society in
an immediate medium. The catchy
slogans were created by committees
who in most cases remained
anonymous. The posters worked as
public artworks rather than fine art
pieces with the sole purpose of driving
the working masses into action.

VERY IMPORTANT
VCE Visual Communication and Design teachers:
The VCAA notice below refers to the school-assessed task (SAT) which is UNIT 4, Outcomes 1, 2
and 3.
Please put the date below in your diary now. This is THE FIRST DAY OF TERM 4.
Carefully plan when students need to complete their work to give you time to assess it.
Information on all matters related to the administration of VCE assessment is published annually in the VCE
and VCAL Administrative Handbook and monthly in the VCAA Bulletin. Teachers must refer to these
publications for information on administrative procedures for School-assessed Coursework, the
School-assessed Task and the examination in Visual Communication and Design.
