Sometimes these Paper Toys
are referred to as FLATPACK
Toys. However the term FLAT
PACK usually refers to the
next item . . . . .

FLAT PACK
More and more furniture now
arrives in a box (
flat pack)
and contains instructions for
the buyer to follow in order to
assemble it after purchase.

FOOTPATH SIGNS
2008's VCE Exam included a
question requiring students to
design the surface graphics
for a Footpath Sign. Often an
Exam/Test question can
become a worthwhile
classroom activity

FUTURE PHONES
See the winners of LG Japan's first Mobile
Design Contest, 2008. Then look at Nokia's
Dream Phones.
In the three rapidly growing cities of Mumbai, Rio
de Janeiro, and Accra (Ghana), Nokia's design
team set up open studios where members of the
local community could sketch their dream phones.
Nokia asked participants to address the following
questions:
- What does it look like?
- What does it do?
- How will you use it?
- When and where will you use it?

UPDATE:
VIEWPOINT
An earlier web page has been updated and expanded
VIEWPOINT: A position from which something is
observed . But it can be a bit more than that - a
viewpoint is a place/position from which you can get
a good view of something. To do this, you have to
know where to be for a good viewpoint.

QUICK ACTIVITY:
RETOUCHING
RETOUCHING is the process of correcting,
improving or altering artwork, particularly
photographs. It used to be done by means
of an airbrush or by hand - using a pencil,
crayon, paintbrush - in order to remove
imperfections or add new qualities to the
work. The commercial artist who specialized
in this process was known as a retoucher.
Today, with software such as Photoshop,
everybody has suddenly become a
retoucher.
